Technical Description
Downstream of the Kalter and Warmer Mandling, a weir gate system at 930 metres above sea level dams the Mandlingbach stream approx. 6 metres above the riverbed and forms a lake with a capacity of more than 10,000 m³. The generating water is channelled via a 2,231 metre-long pressure tunnel to the equipment chamber, from where an approx. 670 metre-long underground steel pressure tube line leads to the powerhouse. The extraction section is supplied with residual water via a feed facility. Once the generating water has done its job in the turbine, it flows from an outlet on the south side of the powerhouse through a 26.7 metre-long underwater drain into the Enns.
Turbines and generators: The power plant has a Francis turbine with a rated output of 6,100 kW. The impeller diameter is 1.04 metres, the swallowing capacity 5 m³/sec. The directly coupled three-phase synchronous generator has a rated voltage of 6,300 V and a rated output of 7,500 kVA.
Transformers: The 7,500 kVA machine transformer converts the energy from 6.3 kV to 30 kV. The electricity is conducted away via the 30 kV line of STEWEAG, which passes by the power plant.
Weir system: The weir system consists of the headrace inlet, the sluice gate and the flood relief system. The latter is equipped with a welded weir gate that can be raised with a hydraulic draw cylinder during times of lower water and lowered during flooding.
