We’re driving the transition to clean energy

We are working at our VERBUND sites to advance the transition to clean energy in Austria and Europe. We are increasing the efficiency of our more than 130 hydropower plants, increasing the generation of electricity from solar power tenfold, and tripling our share of wind power.

VERBUND has stood for reliable electricity generation for more than 75 years. Our plants ensure security of supply not only in Austria, but also in numerous European countries.

VERBUND is making an important contribution to Austria’s security of supply and grid stability by generating electricity from hydropower, solar and wind power. We are fully committed to implementing the climate targets set by the Austrian federal government and supporting the global fight against climate change.

Electricity from hydropower is the basis for VERBUND’s sustainable success. Power plants on rivers and in the Alps are the backbone of our electricity generation.

Wind turbines

Wind power is a major source of growth for the future of renewable energy. Our wind farms in Austria, Germany, Spain and Romania reliably supply green electricity.

Solar energy

Photovoltaics supply electricity to large-scale installations and private households. In order to achieve a successful transition to clean energy, we are increasing our electricity generation from solar energy tenfold. But we also offer PV solutions for industry, businesses and households.

Efficient gas power plants will continue to play a supporting role in the transition to clean energy. They are mainly used as a readily available reserve.
