What started in 2000 with the Bruck an der Leitha wind farm is now a showcase model for regional, climate-friendly electricity generation. The special feature of the Bruck an der Leitha wind farm is a wind turbine with an observation platform. Experience the power of the wind up close and personal. Our guides climb the 60-metre-high internal spiral staircase with you. After 279 steps, you reach the top and can watch the turbine blades in the all-round glazed platform turning wind power into a rotary motion to generate electricity.

The Petronell-Carnuntum wind farm consists of eleven wind turbines with a rotor diameter of 70 metres, a hub height of 98 metres and an output of 2 MW each. On average, the wind turbines generate around 42 GWh of electricity per year.
VERBUND operates six wind farms in the entire district of Bruck an der Leitha with a total of 44 wind turbines and a total feed-in capacity of 106 MW. VERBUND carries out the service and maintenance work for 25 plants with its own service team. The remaining turbines, which were installed in 2014 and 2015, are still being serviced by the manufacturer Enercon.

An environmental impact assessment was carried out for the construction of the Petronell-Carnuntum wind farm in 2004. In the course of this, an ornithological monitoring of the local bird life was ordered. In addition, an offset habitat was created, especially for the endangered little owl and other birds of prey and songbirds, which is part of the 2-year monitoring programme.
Guided tours of the Bruck an der Leitha wind farm provide interesting facts and information about wind power.
