Revitalisation of the Ottensheim Danube power plant
A comprehensive rehabilitation entitled “Ottensheim-29” has been underway since 2020. Major electrical and mechanical components are being replaced to increase efficiency by 2029.
In the Ottensheim-Wilhering Danube power plant, our on-site power plant team will be kept busy refurbishing generators and carrying out major turbine overhauls over the next few years. Rehabilitation of the turbines in Ottensheim-Wilhering will generate hydroelectricity for an additional 16,000 households by 2029.
Turbine capacity will increase by 45 megawatts (MW). Electricity generation will rise by 56 million kilowatt hours (kWh). This will provide electricity for a further 16,000 households and avoid 42,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.
