Technical description
Turbines and generators: The power plant is driven by a Kaplan spiral turbine with five impeller blades and a diameter of 2.7 metres. At a nominal flow rate of 50 m³/sec., it achieves a nominal power output of 6,364 kW. The three-phase synchronous generator has a nominal output of 8,500 kVA.
Transformers: The 8,500 kVA machine transformer converts the generated energy from 3.5 kV to 30 kV, which is conducted along open-air lines to Kreischberg, Murau and the Bodendorf power plant. The power plant’s own requirements are met by a 160 kVA three-phase transformer. It connects the 400 V and the 30 kV voltage levels.
Weir system: The two-field weir system is equipped with welded pressure segment gates with weir flaps. Each weir field is 11.5 metres wide with a barrier height of 8.5 metres. The barriers are raised and lowered by an oil-hydraulic pull cylinder, the flap is operated and deployed by centrally arranged push cylinders.
