The VERBUND power plant Gabersdorf is a run-of-river power plant on the Mur and in the municipality of Gabersdorf in Styria.
The Gabersdorf power plant was built between 1972 and 1974. Two Kaplan bulb turbines generate an annual average of approx. 68 GWh of electricity.

Two Kaplan bulb turbines with an average head of 8.6 metres generate a bottleneck capacity of 14,500 kW. Each of the two directly coupled three-phase synchronous generators has a nominal output of 10,000 kVA.
A 20,000 kVA machine transformer raises the generated energy from 6 kV to 110 kV.
The three-field weir system is closed with pressure segment gates and weir flaps. Both the gates and flaps can be controlled hydraulically via pull and push cylinders.

Since 2015, fish at the location of the Gabersdorf run-of-river power plant have been able to migrate from the tailrace to the headrace. The fish bypass is composed of multiple types: a vertical slot pass for entry and exit, a near-natural bypass channel and a basin pass. In total, the fish bypass has a length of around 2.8 km and overcomes a height difference of 9.25 metres.
